Power Steering Fluid Reservoir: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Clean the outside of the reservoir.
2. Remove the reservoir cap (1).
3. Use a siphon in order to remove the power steering fluid from the reservoir (6).
4. Loosen the return hose clamp at the reservoir.

NOTICE: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Notice in Service Precautions.

IMPORTANT: Place a drain pan under the vehicle in order to catch any escaping fluid.

5. Remove the return hose/pipe (5) from the reservoir.
6. Loosen the suction hose clamp at the reservoir.
7. Remove the suction hose (4) from the reservoir.
8. Slide the reservoir up vertically in order to remove the reservoir from the bracket.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Slide the reservoir down vertically in order to install the reservoir to the bracket.

NOTICE: Refer to Installing Hoses Without Twists or Bends in Service Precautions.

2. Install the suction hose (4) to the reservoir. Secure with the hose clamp.
3. Install the return hose/pipe (5) to the reservoir. Secure with the hose clamp.

NOTICE: Refer to Using Proper Power Steering Fluid When Adding in Service Precautions.

4. Add power steering fluid to the reservoir. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid.

NOTICE: Refer to Air In The Steering System in Service Precautions.

5. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding Power Steering System.
