Fuel Injector: Service and Repair
Fuel Injectors and Fuel Rail ReplacementREMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure.
2. Remove the throttle body.
3. Disconnect the fuel injector (2) electrical connector (1).
4. Remove the hold down bracket at the rear of the intake manifold.
5. Remove the intake manifold hold down bracket bolts (1).
6. Remove the bracket (2).
7. Remove the high pressure and return hoses (2) from the fuel pipes.
8. Remove the fuel pipes (2) hold down bracket bolt (1).
9. Remove the three fuel rail (3) retaining bolts (1).
10. Remove the fuel rail (3).
11. Remove the fuel injectors (2).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Apply a thin coat of motor oil to the fuel injectors O-rings.
2. Install the fuel injectors (2) to the fuel rail (3).
3. Install the fuel rail (3) to the intake manifold.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
4. Install the three retaining bolts (1).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
5. Install the fuel pipes (2) hold down bolt (1).
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (19 lb ft).
6. Install the intake manifold reinforcement bracket (2).
7. Install both retaining bolts (1).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N.m (19 lb ft).
8. Reconnect the fuel injectors (2) electrical connectors (1).
9. Install the scan tool.
10. Turn the ignition On, leaving the engine off.
11. Activate the fuel pump.
12. Check for leaks. Repair as necessary.
