Fuel Filter Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure.
CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
CAUTION: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in Cautions and Notices.
3. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
4. Disconnect the fuel inlet hose (2) from the fuel filter (1).
5. Disconnect the fuel outlet hose (4) from the fuel filter (1).
6. Remove the fuel filter bracket retaining bolt (3).
7. Remove the fuel filter (1) and bracket from the vehicle.
8. Loosen the fuel filter bracket bolt and remove the fuel filter from the bracket.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
1. Install the fuel filter to the fuel filter bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the fuel filter bracket bolt to 11 N.m (8 lb ft).
2. Install the fuel filter (1) and bracket to the vehicle.
3. Secure the fuel filter bracket to the vehicle with the retaining bolt (3).
Tighten
Tighten the fuel filter bracket retaining bolt to 11 N.m (8 lb ft).
4. Reconnect the fuel outlet hose (4) to the fuel filter (1).
5. Reconnect the fuel inlet hose (2) to the fuel filter (1).
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Connect the negative battery cable.
Tighten
Tighten the negative battery cable terminal retainer to 8 N.m ( 72 lb in).
8. Start the engine.
9. Inspect for fuel leaks and repair as necessary.
