REMOVAL PROCEDURE^ Tools Required
- J 34866 Wheel Hub Remover
- J 2619-01 Slide Hammer
- J 6627-A Wheel Stud Remover
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
3. Remove the brake drum.
4. Remove the 4 rear axle shaft retaining nuts (2).
5. Pull the rear flange (1) out partially in order to access the wheel studs using the J 34866 with the J 2619-01. Refer to Axle Shaft Replacement in Rear Drive Axle.
6. Use the J 6627-A in order to remove the wheel stud.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Align the serrations on the wheel stud (1) with the serrations in the rear axle flange hole.
2. Use a wheel nut (2) and a washer (3) in order to install the wheel stud.
3. Remove the wheel nut and the washer from the wheel stud.
4. Install the rear axle shaft to the rear axle housing (2). Ensure the rear axle shaft bearing is firmly seated in the rear axle housing. Refer to Axle Shaft Replacement in Rear Drive Axle.
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
5. Install the 4 rear axle shaft retaining nuts (2).
^ Tighten the nuts to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the rear brake drum.
7. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
8. Lower the vehicle.
