Evaporator Tube Replacement - Inlet

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Discharge and recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the front grille.
3. Remove the air cleaner hose.
4. Slide the EVAP canister out of its bracket and position aside.
5. Remove the bolt (1) from the expansion valve.
6. Slide the plate (2) counterclockwise and remove the evaporator inlet tube from the expansion valve.




7. Disconnect the condenser outlet-to-evaporator inlet fitting (6).
8. Remove the evaporator inlet tube from the body mounted retainers.
9. Remove the evaporator inlet tube from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install new O-rings coated with mineral base 525 Viscosity refrigerant oil.
2. Install the evaporator inlet tube to the vehicle.
3. Install the evaporator inlet tube to the body mounted retainers.
4. Install the evaporator inlet tube to the expansion valve.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

5. Slide the plate (2) clockwise and install the bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt (1) to 35 N.m (26 lb ft)




6. Connect the evaporator inlet tube to the condenser outlet tube (6).

Tighten
Tighten the fitting to 35 N.m (26 lb ft)

7. Install the EVAP canister to its bracket.
8. Install the air cleaner hose.
9. Install the front grille.
10. Evacuate and recharge the air conditioning system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
11. Operate the A/C system and test for refrigerant leaks. Refer to Leak Testing.
