Front Door: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the outside rearview mirror.
2. Remove the water deflector.
3. Remove the window outer sealing strip.
4. Remove the door weatherstrip.
5. Remove the door window channel.
6. Remove the door lock.
7. Remove the door lock cylinder.
8. Remove the outside door handle.
9. Remove the door window regulator.




10. Remove the door check.
11. Remove the door molding.
12. Remove the front fender.
13. Support the front side door (2) using a floor jack (1) and piece of wood.
14. Mark the position of the door to the hinges in order to ease the installation process.
15. Remove the 4 bolts which secure the door to the hinges.
16. Position the door away from the door jamb in order to gain the necessary clearance to remove the front side door wiring harness grommet, if equipped.




17. Unclip the plastic retainers which secure the front side door wiring harness (2) to the front side door, if equipped.
18. Release the door wiring harness grommet and unroute the wiring harness (2) from the door, if equipped.
19. Remove any remaining retainers from the front side door.
20. Remove the front side door from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the retainers which were removed from the door.
2. Position the front side door near the door jamb in order to install the front side door wiring harness (2) to the door, if equipped.
3. Route the door wiring harness (2) through the door and seat the grommet, if equipped. Secure the wiring harness to the door with the plastic retainers.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




4. Install the front side door to the hinges. Align the matchmarks on the hinges in order to aid in the correct adjustment of the door. Secure the door to the hinges with the 4 bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the front side door hinge bolts to 27 N.m (19 lb ft).

5. Remove the floor jack (1) and the piece of wood from the door (2).
6. Install the front fender.
7. Install the door molding.
8. Install the door check.
9. Install the door window regulator.
10. Install the door lock.
11. Install the outside door handle.
12. Install the door lock cylinder.
13. Install the door window channel.
14. Install the door weatherstrip.
15. Install the window outer sealing strip.
16. Install the water deflector.
17. Install the outside rearview mirror.
18. Adjust the front side door striker, as needed. Refer to Door Striker Replacement - Front Door.
