Air Injection Pump: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise the vehicle.
3. Remove the steering linkage shield.
4. Remove the AIR injection reactor pipe assembly from the pump assembly by loosening the spring clamp.




5. Remove the AIR injection reactor pump hose from the pump assembly by loosening the spring clamp.




6. Disconnect the AIR pump and solenoid electrical connectors.




7. Remove the AIR pump mounting bolts.




8. Remove the AIR pump.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Align the AIR pump bracket with the mounting holes.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




2. Install the AIR pump mounting bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).




3. Connect the AIR pump and solenoid electrical connectors.




4. Connect the AIR injection reactor pump hose to the pump assembly with a hose clamp.




5. Install the AIR injection reactor pipe assembly to the pump assembly with a hose clamp.
6. Install the steering linkage shield.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
