Evaporator Tube Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURECAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution In Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging. Service and Repair
3. Remove the evaporator tube clip screw.
4. Remove the evaporator tube clip from the accumulator.
5. Remove the evaporator tube from the evaporator.
6. Remove the O-ring seal.
7. Remove the air intake resonator (2.2L only), or the lower radiator hose (4.3L only).
8. Remove the evaporator tube from the condenser.
9. Remove the O-ring seal.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install a new O-ring seal.
Coat the O-ring seal with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the evaporator tube to the condenser.
Tighten
Tighten the evaporator tube to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).
3. Install the air intake resonator (2.2L only), or the lower radiator hose (4.3L only).
4. Install a new O-ring seal.
Coat the O-ring seal with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
5. Install the evaporator tube to the evaporator.
Tighten
Tighten the evaporator tube to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).
6. Install the evaporator tube clip to the accumulator.
7. Install the evaporator tube clip screw.
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 1.9 N.m (17 lb in).
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
9. Add refrigerant to the system.
10. Inspect the system for leaks.
