Engine Oil Dip Stick - Dip Stick Tube: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the oil level indicator.
2. Remove the right exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement (Right 4.3L).





3. Remove the oil level indicator tube bolt.
4. Remove the oil level indicator tube from the engine using a twisting motion.
5. Clean the old sealer from the oil level indicator tube and the engine block.

Installation Procedure





1. Apply sealer, GM P/N 12346004 or equivalent, to the area where the oil level indicator fits into the engine block.





2. Install the oil-level indicator tube to the engine. Refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Installation.
3. Align the tube bracket.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Install the oil level indicator tube bolt.
^ Tighten the oil level indicator tube bolt to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).
5. Install the right exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement (Right 4.3L).





6. Install the oil level indicator.
