Cylinder Head Replacement - Right

Removal Procedure





1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Replacement in Starting and Charging.
2. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
3. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct from the throttle body. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement in Powertrain Management.
4. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Powertrain Management.
5. Remove the engine cooling fan assembly. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement in Cooling System.
6. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement (Lower).
7. Remove the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement (Right).
8. Remove the spark plug wire harness and the support.





9. Remove the ground wires at the rear of the cylinder head.





10. Remove the generator mounting bracket. Refer to Accessory Mounting Brackets Replacement (Generator Mounting Bracket).
11. Remove the generator mounting bracket stud from the cylinder head.
12. Remove the valve pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement





13. Remove the cylinder head bolts.
14. Remove the cylinder head.
15. Clean all surfaces. Refer to Cylinder Head Clean and Inspect.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Installation (Right).
2. Install the valve pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the spark wire harness and support.
^ Tighten the support bolts to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).





4. Install the ground wires at the rear of the cylinder head.
^ Tighten the ground wire stud to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the exhaust manifolds. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement (Right).
6. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement (Lower).





7. Install the generator mounting bracket stud to the cylinder head.
^ Tighten the stud to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
8. Install the generator mounting bracket. Refer to Accessory Mounting Brackets Replacement (Generator Mounting Bracket).
9. Install the engine cooling fan. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement in Cooling System.
10. Fill the engine coolant system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
11. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Replacement in Starting and Charging.
12. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Powertrain Management.
13. Install the air cleaner outlet duct onto the throttle body. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement in Powertrain Management.
