Important: Do not disconnect the brake hose from the caliper.

1. Remove the caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement - Front (Single Piston) or Brake Caliper Replacement - Front (Dual Piston).

Notice: Do not allow the brake components to hang from the flexible brake hoses. Damage to the brake hoses could result.

2. Suspend the caliper.
3. Remove the brake pads (JC1 System). Refer to Brake Pads Replacement - Front (Dual Piston Caliper).
4. Remove the caliper bracket mounting bolts and the caliper bracket (JC1 System).
5. Remove and dispose of the sheet metal retainers (JC1 System).

Installation Procedure

^ Tools Required
- J42450-A Hub Cleaning Kit

Notice: Whenever the brake rotor has been separated from the wheel bearing flange, clean any rust or foreign material from the mating surface of the rotor and flange with the J42450 hub cleaning kit. Failure to do this may result in increased lateral runout of the rotor and brake pulsation.

1. Use the J42450-A to clean the hub flange (JC1 System).
2. Install the wheel bearings (JM3 System). Refer to Wheel Hub, Bearing, and Seal Replacement (RWD Pickup) in Front Suspension.
3. Install the rotor.

Notice: Refer to fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Install the caliper bracket and the caliper bracket mounting bolts (JC1 System).
Tighten the caliper bracket mounting bolts to 180 Nm (133 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the brake pads (JC1 System). Refer to Brake Pads Replacement - Front (Dual Piston Caliper).
6. Install the caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement - Front (Single Piston) or Brake Caliper Replacement - Front (Dual Piston).
7. Burnish replaced or refinished rotors.
