Release of New Foamed Propeller Shafts for Axle Noise

Models:
1996-99 Chevrolet and GMC Cargo G Vans (Plant Code 1)
with 5.7L Engine (VIN R RPO L31), 4L8O-E Automatic Transmission
(RPO MTI) and Full Front Floor Mat (RPO B31)

This bulletin is to inform dealers of the release of two new foamed propeller shafts for the above vehicles that may exhibit an axle noise.

Installing the foamed propeller shaft is recommended before attempting any axle repairs on vehicles that may have an axle noise concern. Refer to Propeller Shaft in the appropriate G Van Service Manual for one-piece propeller shaft replacement procedures.
