A/C Line Sectioning Repair
If the A/C line has a leak on a bend, section the line for the repair.
TOOLS REQUIRED
J41425 A/C Line Repair Kit
1. Recover the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging. Service and Repair
2. Obtain a new A/C line for sectioning.
IMPORTANT: Sectioning the A/C lines requires a minimum length to the straight part of the line on both sides of the splice. Refer to the Minimum Tube Length Requirements table.
3. Scribe a mark for the cut on the damaged A/C line.
4. Scribe a mark on the new line for sectioning.
5. Use a tubing cutter in order to cut both A/C lines.
6. Use the clean pad provided in the J 41425 in order to clean any burrs or grease at least 19 mm (0.75 in) from the A/C line.
7. Use the LOK prep sealant in order to prepare the A/C line for the repair.
8. Apply one drop of the sealing compound, J 41425-3, to the outside of each line end.
9. Insert the line ends into the LOK fitting.
10. Rotate the LOK fitting one complete turn in order to evenly distribute the sealing compound around the lines.
11. Install the J 41425-1 over the connector and the tubes.
12. Ensure that the connector ends are in position in the counter bores of the jaws.
13. Turn the forcing screw while holding the tool body with a 3/8 breaker bar until both of the connector collars bottom on the center shoulder of the LOK fitting.
14. Loosen the forcing screw.
15. Remove the tool from the repaired line.
16. Verify the LOK fitting for proper installation.
17. Repeat the necessary steps in order to repair the other end of the A/C line.
18. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
19. Inspect the system for leaks.
