Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal and Housing Replacement (Housing)

Removal Procedure
1. Remove the transmission assembly and the flywheel. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Transmission and Drivetrain.





2. Remove the following fasteners from the oil seal housing:
- Three screws using a T27 TORX (R) wrench and one nut.
- Two lower studs using an E7 TORX (R) wrench.





3. Remove the oil seal housing.





4. Remove the gasket and discard it.
5. Clean all sealing surfaces.
6. Inspect the crankshaft rear oil seal housing for warping, cracks, wear, or damage.

Installation Procedure





1. Install a NEW crankshaft rear oil seal housing gasket.





2. Install the oil seal housing to the engine block.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





3. Install the following fasteners to the oil seal housing:
- Three screws using a T27 TORX (R) wrench and one nut.
- Two lower studs using an E7 TORX (R) wrench.
- Tighten the crankshaft rear oil seal housing screws and nut to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).
- Tighten the lower studs to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
- Install the transmission assembly and the flywheel.
