Cylinder Head Replacement
Removal Procedure1. Remove the drive belt.
2. Remove the A/C compressor from the mounting bracket, if equipped, and set it aside.
3. Remove the lower intake manifold.
4. Remove the exhaust manifold.
5. Remove the valve rocker arm cover.
6. Remove the valve rocker arms and push rods.
7. Remove the power steering pump pulley.
8. Remove the power steering pump mounting bracket.
9. Disconnect the wiring bracket from the rear of the right cylinder head.
10. For the right side cylinder head, remove the following components:
10.1. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement in Starting and Charging.
10.2. Remove the generator mounting bracket.
10.3. Remove the oil indicator tube.
11. Remove the sixteen cylinder head bolts.
12. Remove the cylinder head and the gasket.
13. Clean all sealing surfaces.
Installation Procedure

- Tools Required
- J 36660 Torque Angle Meter
1. Install the cylinder head.
2. Install the valve rocker arms and the push rods.
3. For the left side cylinder head, install the power steering pump mounting bracket.
4. Install the power steering pump pulley.
5. Connect the electrical connector to the power steering pump.
6. For the right side cylinder head, install the generator mounting bracket.
7. Install the exhaust manifold.
8. Install Oil Indicator Tube.
9. Install the lower intake manifold.
10. Install the valve rocker arm covers.
11. Install the A/C compressor, if equipped.
12. Install the drive belt.
