Push Rod: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the valve rocker arm cover.

Important: Store used components in order so that they can be reassembled in the same location.

2. Remove the valve rocker arm nut.
- If only the pushrod is being replaced, back the valve rocker arm nut off until the valve rocker arm can rotate away from the pushrod.
- Then remove the pushrod.





3. Remove the valve rocker arm with the valve rocker arm ball.





4. Remove the pushrod.
5. Clean and inspect all parts.

Installation Procedure

Important: When new valve rocker arms and/or balls are installed, coat their bearing surfaces with a high viscosity lubricant containing zinc, such as GM P/N 1052367.





1. Install the pushrods.
2. Adjust the valve lash.
3. Install the valve rocker arm cover.
