Park Brake Cable Replacement (Rear Cables)

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Complete the parking brake lever pin up procedure.





2. Loosen the parking brake cable at the cable adjuster.
3. Disconnect the front parking brake cable from the rear parking brake cables.
4. Remove the rear brake shoes from the backing plate.
5. Disconnect the rear parking brake cable from the backing plate retainer.





6. Remove the rear parking brake cable from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the rear parking brake cable to the vehicle.
2. Connect the rear parking brake cable to the backing plate retainer.
3. Connect the rear brake shoes to the backing plate.





4. Connect the front parking brake cable to the rear parking brake cables.





5. Remove the pin (1) from the parking brake lever.
6. Place the parking brake lever to the FULL up position.





7. Measure the threads of the equalizer. Adjust the threads to the following specifications:
^ Passenger/Cargo to 13 mm (0.511 inch)
^ Cutaway/Upfitters to 21 mm (0.826 inch)

8. Verify that the vehicle will hold the position with the brake lever depressed.
9. If additional adjustments need to be made, refer to Park Brake Cable Service/Adjustment.
