Cruise Set Button Switch
The cruise control SET CRUISE button switch is located in the end of the turn signal and multifunction switch. The switch provides the following 3 main functions:
Set
Press and release the SET CRUISE button switch. Ensure that the vehicle exceeds 40 km/h (25 mph) and the OFF/ON R/A switch is in the ON position. The cruise speed is now set at the speed the vehicle was traveling when the button switch was released. The vehicle cruise speed is within 2 km/h (1 mph) of the engaged speed. The system cruises until one of the following actions occur:
^ You move the OFF/ON R/A switch to the OFF position.
^ You press the brake pedal.
^ You turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
Coast
With the SET CRUISE button switch held in the depressed position, the driver may increase or decrease the cruise speed. In order to increase cruise speed, perform the following steps:
1. Depress and hold in the SET CRUISE button switch.
2. Accelerate to the desired cruise speed.
3. Release the SET CRUISE button switch. The vehicle will travel at the new cruise speed.
In order to decrease cruise speed, perform the following steps:
1. Depress and hold in the SET CRUISE button switch. This disengages the cruise system. The throttle returns to the IDLE position.
2. When the vehicle slows to the desired cruise speed, release the SET CRUISE button switch. The vehicle will travel at the new cruise speed.
Tap-down
The driver may decrease the cruise speed in 2 km/h (1 mph) increments using the tap-down function. Complete the following steps in order to perform this function:
1. Ensure that the cruise is engaged and operating.
2. Press and quickly release (tap) the SET CRUISE button switch.
Holding in the button switch causes the system to go to the coast mode. Depress the accelerator in order to override the cruise system. Releasing the accelerator causes the vehicle to return to the last cruise speed.
