Oil Pump Drive Shaft: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Disconnect the battery negative cables from the batteries.
NOTICE: Do not run the engine without the oil pump drive in place. This will cause extensive engine damage.
2. Remove the engine cover from the vehicle.
3. Remove the turbocharger assembly from the engine block.
4. Remove the bolt and clamp from the oil pump drive.
5. Remove the oil pump drive and the O-ring from the engine block.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Apply clean engine oil to the new O-ring.
IMPORTANT: Do not force the oil pump drive gear into place. The oil pump drive gear should slide into place with slight resistance.
2. Install the oil pump drive and O-ring to the engine.
2.1. Index the drive with the camshaft gear and the oil pump drive shaft.
2.2. Ensure that the drive seats fully.
3. Install the bolt and clamp to the oil pump drive.
^ Tighten the bolt to 42 Nm (31 ft. lbs.).
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Install the turbocharger.
IMPORTANT: Always replace the O-ring between the turbocharger and the upper intake manifold as well as to the O-ring between the turbocharger and the engine block.
5. Install the engine cover in the vehicle.
6. Connect the battery negative cables to the batteries.
