Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Right

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Remove the engine cover.
3. Remove the screw retaining the oil fill tube to the generator bracket.
4. Remove the oil fill tube from the engine.
5. Remove the oil level indicator and tube.
6. Use the following procedure in order to gain access to the right side valve cover:
- Disconnect the Ignition Control Module (ICM) electrical connector.
- Open the engine electrical harness retainer.
- Reposition the engine electrical harness over the ignition coil.

7. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the right side of the distributor cap.
8. Remove the crankcase vent tube from the right side valve cover.





9. Remove the right valve cover from the engine.
10. Clean all sealing surfaces.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the right valve cover to the engine. Refer to
Valve Rocker Arm Cover Installation under Engine Unit Repair.
2. Install the crankcase vent tube to the right side valve cover.
3. Connect the spark plug wires to the right side of the distributor cap.
4. Use the following procedure in order to reposition the engine electrical harness:
- Reposition the engine electrical harness into the harness retainer.
- Close the engine electrical harness retainer.
- Connect the Ignition Control Module (ICM) electrical connector.





5. Install the engine oil fill tube to the engine.
6. Install the oil level indicator and tube.
7. Install the battery negative cable.

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

8. Install the screw to the generator bracket.
- Tighten the screw to 10 Nm (88 inch lbs.).

9. Install the engine cover.
