Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley: Service and Repair
- Tools Required- J 23523-F Crankshaft Balancer Remover
1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
2. Remove the drive belt.
3. Remove the fan shroud assembly.
4. Remove the crankshaft pulley in the following manner:
- Remove the three pulley bolts.
- Remove the pulley from the balancer.
- Remove the crankshaft balancer bolt.
5. Remove the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Removal under Engine Unit Repair.
6. Clean and inspect all parts. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Clean and Inspect under Engine Unit Repair.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
- Tools Required
- J 23523-F Crankshaft Balancer Installer
1. Install the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Installation under Engine Unit Repair.
2. Install the crankshaft pulley and the three bolts finger tight.
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the crankshaft balancer bolt finger tight.
3.1. Tighten the pulley bolts to 58 Nm (43 ft. lbs.).
3.2. Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt to 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the drive belt.
5. Install the fan shroud assembly.
6. Connect the battery negative cable.
