DTC 86 Shorted Antilock Indicator Lamp
DTC 88 Shorted Brake Warning Lamp






Circuit Description

DTCs 86 and 88 relate to malfunctions in the ANTILOCK and BRAKE lamp circuits. When a malfunction occurs in the ANTILOCK lamp circuit, the BPMV uses the BRAKE lamp in its place. Do not replace the BPMV for this DTC. A faulty BPMV will not cause this DTC to set.

Test Description

Check for a short to B+ in either CKT 852 or 33 depending on which lamp malfunctioned.

Diagnostic Aids

Do not replace the BPMV for this DTC. A faulty BPMV will not cause this DTC to set.

Do not pierce the electrical connectors, wires, seals or insulation during testing. Doing so will break the seal and lead to corrosion and failure of the wiring and terminals.
