A new improved oil pan drain plug gasket, P/N 14090908, is available to replace the copper gasket. The new gasket is a steel washer with a captured O-ring (Viton) design. The new O-ring/steel gasket is capable of sealing irregular surfaces with light torques while retaining the clamping load. Reuse of the O-ring/steel gasket does not lessen sealing or torque retention characteristics. Recommended torque for the O-ring/steel gasket is 16-27 N-m (12-20 ft.lbs.). DO NOT OVER TORQUE THE DRAIN PLUG as the higher torques may cause deformation, splitting, or loss of sealing capability to the steel gasket.
