Automatic Transmission Flex Plate Removal

Special Tools

* EN-49979 - Crankshaft Shock Mount Retainer.

* EN-956-1 - Extension.

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools Tools and Equipment.

1. Install EN-49979 - retainer to EN-956-1 - extension.





2. Install EN-49979 - retainer (1) in compound with EN-956-1 - extension (2) to the crankshaft balancer as shown.





3. Loosen the 6 flex plate bolts (3) while holding up the crankshaft balancer.

4. Remove the 6 flex plate bolts and the flex plate bolt washer (2).

5. Remove the flex plate (1).
