Automatic Transmission Flex Plate Installation

Special Tools

* EN-49979 - Crankshaft Shock Mount Retainer.

* EN-956-1 - Extension.

* EN-470-B - Angular Torque Wrench.

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools Tools and Equipment.





1. Install the flex plate (1).

2. Install the flex plate bolt washer (2) and the 6 flex plate bolts (3).

3. Install EN-49979 - retainer to EN-956-1 - extension.





4. Install EN-49979 - retainer (1) in compound with EN-956-1 - extension (2) to the crankshaft balancer as shown.

Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

5. Tighten the 6 flex plate bolts to 35 Nm (26 lb ft).

6. Tighten the 6 flex plate bolts to an additional 30°. Use EN-470-B - wrench.

7. Tighten the 6 flex plate bolts to an additional 15°. Use EN-470-B - wrench.
