DTC Descriptor
DTC P1E09
-
Hybrid Battery Contactor Status Circuit High Voltage
Circuit/System Description
The hybrid powertrain control module monitors the hybrid/EV battery high voltage contactor status and requests contactor function primarily via serial data. In the event of a serial data fault there is a redundant discreet circuit between the two controllers that transmits the hybrid powertrain control module contactor requests to the hybrid powertrain control module 2 via a pulse width modulated (PWM) signal. The hybrid powertrain control module is internal to the power inverter module, often referred to as the drive motor generator power inverter module, and is not serviced separately.
Conditions for Running the DTC
The system voltage is greater than 9.5 V.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
The hybrid powertrain control module detects a PWM signal of greater than 90 percent.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
DTC P1E09 is a Type B DTC.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
DTC P1E09 is a Type B DTC.

Danger:
Always perform the High Voltage Disabling procedure prior to servicing any High Voltage component or connection. Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and proper procedures must be followed.
The High Voltage Disabling procedure will perform the following tasks:
* Identify how to disable high voltage.
* Identify how to test for the presence of high voltage.
* Identify condition under which high voltage is always present and personal protection equipment (PPE) and proper procedures must be followed.
Failure to follow the procedures exactly as written may result in serious injury or death.
1. Vehicle OFF, disconnect the X2 harness connector at the hybrid powertrain control module 2.
2. Vehicle ON, verify that the scan tool Hybrid/EV Contactor System Circuit Request Circuit Command parameter is 100 percent.
• If not the specified value, test the control circuit terminal 53 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the T6 power inverter module.
3. Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the control circuit terminal 53 and ground. Verify that the scan tool Hybrid/EV Contactor System Circuit Request parameter is 0 percent.
• If not the specified value, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the T6 power inverter module.
4. If all circuits test normal, replace the hybrid powertrain control module 2.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification Verification Tests after completing the repair.
