Control Arm Bushing Replacement

J-44570-A - Bushing Remover/Installer Kit
For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools (Rear Suspension)
Removal Procedure
Note: It is NOT necessary to remove the rear axle assembly to service the control arm bushings.
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the rear coil springs from the vehicle. Refer to Coil Spring Replacement (Coil Spring Replacement).
4. Temporary re-install the lower rear shock bolts.
5. Disconnect the rear park brake cables from the rear axle mounting brackets (5). Refer to Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement (Drum) (Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement (Drum))Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement (Disc) (Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement (Disc)).
6. Remove the rear suspension trailing arm bracket to body bolts (2).
7. Remove the rear axle bracket to bushing through bolts (1) and nuts (4).
8. Remove the rear suspension control arm bracket support (3).
9. Using the J-44570-1 or the J-44570-4 (2), J-44570-3 (1) and a hammer, remove the rear suspension insulators from the rear axle.
Installation Procedure
Note: Ensure that the orientation of the rear suspension insulators are correct before installation.
1. Position the NEW insulators into the rear axle with the rubber end (1) facing inboard.
Note: Make sure that the insulators are still properly orientated.
2. Align the largest notch (2) of the insulator with that of the rear wheel bearing centers (3).
3. Using the J-44570-1 or the J-44570-4 (2), J-44570-3 (3), and the J-44570-2 (1), install the rear suspension insulator.
4. Install the rear suspension control arm bracket support (3) to the rear axle trailing arms, loosely install the through bolt and nut (1,4).
Note: Hand tighten the trailing arm bracket bolts ONLY.
5. Hand tighten the axle bracket to body bolts (2) just enough to hold the brackets flush to the body.
6. Raise the rear axle assembly to the D height specifications. Refer to Trim Height Inspection (Trim Height Inspection).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
7. Tighten the rear suspension control arm bracket to bushing through bolts (1) to 90 Nm (66 lb ft) + 60 degrees.
8. Using two 12 mm diameter pins, align both rear suspension control arm bracket supports and tighten the trailing arm bracket to body bolts (2) to 90 Nm (66 lb ft) + 45 degrees.
9. Install the rear park brake cables to the rear axle mounting brackets (5). Refer to Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement (Drum) (Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement (Drum))Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement (Disc) (Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement (Disc)).
10. Install the rear coil springs in the vehicle. Refer to Coil Spring Replacement (Coil Spring Replacement).
11. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
12. Remove the supports and lower the vehicle.
