Oil Pan: Service and Repair




Oil Pan Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Install the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture (Engine Support Fixture).
2. Remove the engine mount. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement (Engine Mount Replacement).
3. Raise the engine enough to allow clearance for the oil pan removal.
4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
5. Place a drain pan under the oil pan drain plug.




6. Remove the oil pan drain plug.
7. Drain the engine oil.
8. Remove the engine drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (Service and Repair).
9. Remove the lower AC compressor bolt and loosen the upper bolts.




10. Remove the 4 oil pan to transaxle bolts (1).
11. Remove the oil pan bolts.




12. Remove the oil pan
13. Remove any old oil pan sealant (1).

Installation Procedure




1. Ensure that the oil pan and the sealing surface (1) on the lower crankcase are free of all oil and debris.




2. Apply a 3.5 mm bead of sealant around the perimeter of the oil pan and the oil suction port opening. DO NOT over apply the sealant. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers) for the correct part number.
3. Install the oil pan.




4. Install the oil pan bolts.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

5. Install the 4 oil pan to transaxle bolts (1) and tighten to 75 Nm (55 lb ft).




6. Tighten the oil pan bolts in the sequence shown and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
7. Install the lower AC compressor bolt and tighten the upper bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
8. Install the engine drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (Service and Repair).
9. Lower the engine and install the engine mount. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement (Engine Mount Replacement).
10. Remove the engine support fixture.
11. Lower the vehicle.
12. Fill the engine with oil to the proper level.
