Park Brake Lever Assembly Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Release the park brake.
2. Remove the park brake/gearshift console hood. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement Front Floor Console Replacement.
3. Measure the thread length from the end of the pull rod to the hex nut.
4. Remove the hex nut.





Important: Replace the park brake switch if the BRAKE warning indicator did not illuminate with the park brake applied and with the ignition switch in the ON position.


5. Remove the screw and the park brake warning lamp switch.




6. Remove the park brake lever assembly-to-vehicle underbody bolts.

Installation Procedure





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice Fastener Notice.

Important: If the park brake lever is bent or damaged, replace the complete park brake lever assembly, which includes a new park brake switch.


1. Install the park brake switch to the park brake lever assembly with the screw.

Tighten the park brake switch-to-park brake lever screw to 4 Nm (35 lb in).




2. Install the park brake lever bolts, and fasten the park brake lever assembly to the vehicle underbody.

Tighten the park brake lever assembly-to-vehicle underbody bolts to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).




3. Install the hex nut on the end of the pull rod to the same position as noted in the removal procedure.
4. Adjust the park brake. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment (Disc Brakes) Park Brake Adjustment (Disc Brakes)Park Brake Adjustment (Drum Brakes) Park Brake Adjustment (Drum Brakes).
5. Install the park brake/gearshift console hood. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement Front Floor Console Replacement.
