Rear Disc Brake Pads Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.

Important: Caliper removal is not necessary to service the brake pads.


3. Remove the lower caliper guide pin bolt.




4. Pivot the caliper upward.
5. Remove the brake pads.

Installation Procedure




1. Measure the minimum brake pad thickness. Refer to Brake Pad Inspection Testing and Inspection.
2. Install the brake pads into the caliper.
3. Push the piston inward, if necessary.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice Fastener Notice.

Important: Avoid damaging the piston seal while pivoting the caliper housing downward.


4. Pivot the caliper housing downward and install the bolt.

Tighten the lower caliper mounting bolt to 27 Nm (20 lb ft).

5. Install the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
6. Lower the vehicle.
