Shift Control Cable Replacement - Floor Shift

Removal Procedure





Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution Battery Disconnect Caution.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the clip from the selector lever connection on the transaxle case and disconnect the shift control cable from the connection.
3. Remove the clip from the shift control cable at the transaxle mount connection.




4. Remove the floor console. Refer to Console Replacement - Front Floor Service and Repair.
5. Loosen the pinch nut on the shift control cable adjuster.
6. Remove the cable from the shift control assembly.




7. Remove the cable from the transaxle mount.
8. Pull the cable through the cowl, bringing the rubber grommet with the cable.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the shift control cable and the grommet into the cowl.
2. Install the cable onto the transaxle mount.




3. Install the cable onto the shift control assembly.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice Fastener Notice.

4. Install the pinch nut to the cable adjuster.

Tighten the nut to 8 Nm (71 lb in).




5. Install the clip to the shift control cable at the transaxle mount connection.
6. Install the clip to the select lever connection on the transaxle case.
7. Adjust the shift control cable. Refer to Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Adjustment 16. Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Adjustment.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
