Reverse Idler Gear Disassemble

- 87-91-311 Bearing Driver Shaft Sleeve
1. Put the reverse idler gear shaft in the 87-91-311. Ensure that the rim of the 87-91-311 rests on the reverse gear and not on the idler shaft washer.
Important: When tapping out the reverse idler rear shaft, make sure the shaft washer does not separate from the shaft.
2. Carefully tap the reverse idler gear shaft out of the shaft support bracket using a punch in the center of the shaft.
3. Remove the shaft support bracket and discard.
4. Remove the reverse idler gear washer, reverse gear, reverse synchronizer sleeve, reverse gear blocking ring with spring, reverse idler gear, and reverse gear bearing.
5. Inspect the condition of the gears and synchronizer.
6. Measure the clearance between the blocking ring and reverse the idler gear in 4 places.
^ The minimum blocking ring clearance for the reverse gear synchronizer is 0.5 mm (0.02 inch).
