Rear Hub and Bearing

REAR HUB/BEARING

1. Raise and support rear of vehicle.
2. Remove wheel and tire assembly.
3. Remove hub cap, cotter pin and nut and washer, then the hub and brake drum assembly.
4. Remove outer bearing from hub by hand.

5. Remove oil seal from hub using tool No. J-26941 or equivalent, Fig. 6.
6. Remove inner bearing from hub by hand.

7. Tap inner bearing outer race and outer bearing outer race out of hub, Fig. 7.

8. Install inner and outer bearing races using tool J-35307-1 and J-35307-2 respectively, Fig. 8.

9. Install new oil seal in inner side of hub using tool No. J-35305 or equivalent, Fig. 9.



10. Pack bearings using suitable grease.
11. Reverse procedure to install, and adjust wheel bearings as follows:
a. Tighten hub nut to 22 ft. lbs.
b. Loosen hub nut, then tighten finger tight.
c. Install retainer, then cotter pin.
