Vacuum Brake Booster: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Remove master cylinder as previously described.
2. Disconnect vacuum hose from vacuum servo.
3. Disconnect clevis from brake pedal.
4. Remove power brake unit attaching nuts and the power brake unit.
INSTALLATION
Fig. 5 Power brake unit pushrod adjusting tool on master cylinder:
1. Adjust power brake unit pushrod length as follows:
a. Position pushrod gauge No. J-34873 on master cylinder and lower pin until it lightly contacts piston.

b. Invert gauge and position on power brake unit.
Fig. 7 Power brake unit pushrod final adjustment:
c. Adjust pushrod length until rod lightly contacts pin head.
2. Install gasket and power brake unit. Torque attaching nuts to 14 ft. lbs.
3. Reverse remainder of removal procedure to complete installation.
