Removal and Installation

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove air inlet tube.
3. Disconnect speedometer cable.
4. Disconnect thermostat housing at transaxle.
5. Disconnect ground wire at transaxle.
6. Disconnect clutch slave cylinder and lay aside.
7. Disconnect clutch cables.
8. Disconnect back-up light switch.
9. Remove upper bellhousing bolts.
10. Remove transaxle mount upper bolt.
11. Install engine support tool No. J-28467, or equivalent.
12. Raise and support vehicle.
13. Remove lefthand wheel.
14. Remove right, left and center splash shields.
15. Remove center beam.
16. Remove transaxle inspection cover.
17. Disconnect lefthand and righthand lower control arms at knuckle.
18. Disconnect right and left axle shafts at transaxle.
19. Remove starter.
20. Support transaxle using a suitable jack.
21. Remove three backside transaxle to engine bolts.
22. Remove remaining bellhousing bolts.
23. Remove transaxle from vehicle.
24. Reverse procedure to install.
