Lock-Up Mechanism

1. Connect a suitable voltmeter to service connector-terminal ECT.
2. Select NORM pattern.
3. Operate vehicle in Drive range at a steady speed of approximately 37 mph until 3, 5 or 7 volts are indicated on voltmeter (Lockup).
4. Depress accelerator pedal, then check tachometer. If a large increase in engine RPM is noticed, there is no lock-up.
