Time Lag Test
1. Road test vehicle until transaxle reaches normal operating temperatures (122-176 degrees F).2. Apply parking brake, then start engine and check that idle speed is 800 RPM in "N" less power steering, and 900 RPM in "N" with power steering.
3. Shift selector lever from "N" to "D" range and note time lapse until engagement.
4. Time lapse should be less than 1.2 seconds.
5. Repeat test, shifting selector lever from "N" to "R."
6. Time lapse should be 1.5 seconds.
7. If "N" to "D" time lag is longer than specified, low line pressure or worn forward clutch is indicated.
8. If "N" to "R" time lag is longer than specified, low line pressure, worn direct clutch or worn first and reverse brake is indicated.
