INSPECTION
1. Push driven gear to one side of body, then measure gear to body side clearance using a suitable feeler gauge. Clearance should be 0.0028-0.0059 inch.
2. Using a suitable feeler gauge, measure distance between gear teeth and crescent shaped art of pump body for both gears. If tip clearance exceeds 0.012 inch, replace drive gear, driven gear or pump body as necessary.
3. Using a suitable straightedge and feeler gauge, check side clearance of both gears as shown in Image. Side clearance should be 0.0043-0.0055 inch.
4. Check front oil seal for wear damage or cracks. If necessary to replace oil seal, pry off old seal using a suitable tool, then using tool No. 09350-32011 and a suitable hammer, install new oil seal. Seal should be flush with outer edge of pump body.
