Disassemble
TRANSAXLE DISASSEMBLY1. Remove to oil cooler pipes, then the transaxle dipstick and filler tube.

2. Remove manual shift lever, then the neutral start switch.
3. Remove throttle cable retaining plate, then the solenoid and kick-down switch wire retaining plate.
4. Remove speed sensor and sensor rotor as follows:
a. Remove retaining plate and speed sensor.
b. Remove the two bolts and sensor cover.
c. Remove sensor rotor.
d. Remove sensor rotor adapter.
5. Remove pan and gasket, then the magnet.
6. Invert transaxle and remove oil tube bracket, oil strainer, then the five oil tubes.
7. Remove manual detent spring, then disconnect solenoid connector(s).
8. Remove valve body, then disconnect throttle cable from cam.
9. Disconnect manual valve connecting rod from manual valve lever, then remove valve body.
10. Remove throttle cable from case, then the solenoid wire.
11. Remove governor apply gasket, then the C3 accumulator piston and spring, by applying compressed air to passage.
12. Remove accumulator pistons and springs by slowly loosening the five retaining bolts until spring tension is released, then remove cover and gasket. Remove piston and spring for C1 by applying low pressure compressed air, if necessary, into hole in piston bore.
13. Measure piston stroke of second coast brake by placing a mating mark to piston at the point it meets case, then applying compressed air to air passage. Piston stroke should be 0.059 - 0.118 inch.
14. Remove snap ring, cover, then the second coast brake piston and outer return spring.
15. Remove six oil pump to transaxle case attaching bolts, then the pump using tool Nos. 09350-32013 and 09351-32061. Use care not to damage race and bearing behind oil pump.
16. Remove direct clutch, ensuring not to damage race behind oil pump.
17. Remove thrust washer, then the forward clutch drum.
18. Push second coast brake retaining pin using a suitable screwdriver, then remove pin from oil pump mounting bolt hole. Remove second coast brake band.
19. Remove front planetary ring gear, then the bearing and race. Use care not to damage race and bearing on ring gear.
20. Remove front planetary gear with race. Use care not to damage race and bearing on front planetary gear.
21. Remove sun gear, sun gear input drum, second brake hub, then the No. 1 one-way clutch.
22. Remove second coast brake band guide.
23. Remove second brake drum to case retaining ring, then the second brake drum, lightly tapping with a wooden block if necessary.
24. Remove second brake piston return spring, then the plates disc and flange. Remove piston with compressed air.
25. Remove second brake drum gasket, then the second brake drum seal using a hammer and suitable drift.
26. Retain No. 2 one-way clutch outer race to case, then remove snap ring.
27. Remove No. 2 one-way clutch and rear planetary gear with thrust washers.
28. Remove rear planetary ring gear and bearing.
29. Remove flange to case snap ring, then the flanges, plates and disc.
30. Remove 13 transaxle rear cover to case attaching bolts, then the rear cover and intermediate shaft.
31. Remove snap ring, then the 18 transaxle housing attaching bolts.
32. Remove differential, then the governor driven gear and thrust washer.
33. Remove 2 oil seals.
34. Using a hammer and suitable drift, unstake countershaft locknut, then remove countershaft locknuts from driven gear side, using tool Nos. 09330-00021, 09350-3213 and 093501-32031. Retain driven gear using tool Nos. 09330-00021 an 09350-32013, then remove locknut.
35. Remove counter driven gear, then the thrust needle bearing.
36. Remove countershaft assembly, then the anti-rattle clip.
37. Remove thrust bearing with race, then the underdrive clutch drum.
38. Remove snap ring. Snap ring is under spring pressure.
39. Remove flange, plates and discs, then the brake return spring.
40. Remove underdrive brake piston, using compressed air.
41 Remove parking lock pawl stopper plate, torsion spring and spring guide.
42. Remove parking lock pawl shaft, spring and parking lock pawl.
43. Remove manual lock sleeve, then the cam guide bracket.
44. Remove manual valve shaft spacer, then drive out retaining pin.
45. Remove manual valve shaft and lever, then if necessary to replace manual shaft oil seal, proceed as follows:
a. Drive out old Seal, using a suitable drift.
b. Drive in new seal.
c. Apply a suitable lubricant to seal.
46. Remove oil seal rings, then the 3 oil gallery cover attaching screws and 6 bolts. Remove gallery cover and gasket.
47. Remove B4 accumulator piston and spring.
48. Using tool No.09308-00010, remove bearing.
49. Remove 4 oil tube clamps, then the oil tubes.
50. Remove oil tube apply cover and gasket.
51. Remove bearing stopper, then the bearing, using tool No. 09308-00010.
