Disassembly

1. Remove lower valve body plate and gaskets, then the cooler bypass valve and spring, see image.
2. Remove damping check valve and 5 ring, then the three check balls.
3. Remove primary regulator valve retainer, sleeve, plunger, spring, adjusting rings and valve, noting number of adjusting rings removed to facilitate installation.
4. Remove secondary regulator valve retainer using suitable tool, then the plug, valve and spring.
5. Remove 1-2 shift valve retainer using suitable tool, then the plug.
6. Remove 1-2 shift lower valve, upper valve and spring.
7. Remove low coast shift valve retainer using suitable tool, then the plug and valve.
8. Remove lock-up control valve retainer using suitable tool, then the plug valve and spring.
9. Remove detent regulator valve retainer using suitable tool, then the plug detent regulator valve and spring.
10. Remove 2-3 shift valve retainer using suitable tool, then the plug valve and spring.
11. Remove intermediate shift valve retainer using suitable tool, then the plug and valve.
12. Remove lock-up signal valve retaining pin using suitable tool, then the plug.
13. Remove 3-4 coast shift plug, then the 3-4 shift plug.
