Assembly

1. Install primary regulator valve as follows:

a. Install adjusting rings and spring seat, ensuring to install same number of rings as were removed.
b. Insert valve into bore in a horizontal position, then stand valve upward and push valve inward until its tip bottoms in bore.
c. Install valve spring, then fully insert plunger, short end first, until recessed inside sleeve.
d. Install sleeve with plunger.
e. Ensure regulator valve fits flush with bore, then install retainer.

2. Install secondary regulator valve spring and valve, then install plug and retainer.
3. Install 1-2 upper shift valve and spring, lower valve flat end first, then insert plug and retainer.
4. Install low coast shift valve, small end first, then insert plug and retainer.
5. Install lock-up control valve, then apply petroleum jelly to retainer and insert plug and retainer.
6. Install detent regulator valve spring and valve, small end first, then insert plug and retainer.
7. Install intermediate shift valve, small end first, then apply petroleum jelly to retainer. Install plug flat end first, then insert retainer.
8. Install 2-3 shift valve spring and valve, then insert plug and retainer.
9. Install lock-up signal valve spring and valve, then insert plug and pin.
10. Install 3-4 coast shift plug, then the 3-4 shift plug.
11. Check retainers and locating pin, ensuring proper installation.
12. Install spring and cooler bypass valve, then the spring and damping check valve.
13. Insert check balls.
