1. Remove to oil cooler pipes, then the manual shift lever.
2. Remove neutral start switch, then the oil filler gauge and tube refer to Fig. 1.
3. Remove throttle cable retaining plate, then the governor body as follows:
a. Remove two retaining bolts, then the cover bracket.
b. Remove plate washer.
4. Remove pan and gasket, then the magnet.
5. Remove oil tube bracket and oil strainer, then the four oil tubes.
6. Remove manual detent spring, then the manual valve and manual valve body.
7. Remove valve body, then disconnect throttle cable from cam and remove second valve body.
8. Remove throttle cable from case, then the governor apply gasket.
9. Remove governor oil strainer.
10. Remove accumulator pistons and springs by slowly loosening the five retaining bolts until spring tension is released, then remove cover and gasket. Remove piston and spring by applying low pressure compressed air, if necessary, into hole in piston bore.
11. Install second coast brake piston compressor tool No. J-35549, then remove snap ring, Fig. 2.
12. Remove seven oil pump to transaxle case attaching bolts, then the pump using tool Nos. J-6125-B and J-35496 adapters. Push 2nd brake band into case, using care not to damage direct clutch drum.
13. Remove direct clutch, ensuring not to damage race behind oil pump.
14. Remove thrust washer, then the forward clutch drum.
15. Push second coast brake retaining pin using a suitable screwdriver, then remove pin from oil pump mounting bolt hole. Remove second coast brake band, Fig. 3.
16. Remove front planetary ring gear, then the planetary gear.
17. Remove sun gear, sun gear input drum, second brake hub, then the No. 1 one-way clutch.
18. Remove second coast brake band guide.
19. Using a suitable feeler gauge, measure clearance between second brake return spring seat and top of plate. If clearance exceeds .0193 - .0626 inch, replace discs, Fig. 4.
20. Retain second brake drum to case, then remove snap ring.
21. Remove second brake drum and return springs, tapping drum with a suitable wooden block, if necessary.
22. Remove second brake drum gasket, then the second brake drum seal using a hammer and suitable drift
23. Remove plates, discs and flange, then the piston using compressed air.
24. Retain No. 2 one-way clutch outer race to case, then remove snap ring.
25. Remove rear planetary ring gear and bearing.
26. Using a suitable feeler gauge, measure clearance of 1st and reverse brake, between piston and flange end. If clearance exceeds .0465 - .0953 inch, replace discs, Fig. 5.
27. Remove flange to case snap ring, then the flanges, plates and discs.
28. Remove 11 transaxle rear cover to case attaching bolts, then the rear cover and intermediate shaft.
29. Remove case gasket then the parking lock pawl bracket and parking lock rod.
30. Remove parking lock pawl shaft, spring and parking lock pawl.
31. Remove manual shaft & lever, then then the governor pressure adapter.
32. Remove carrier cover, then the differential assembly.
