Ignition Coil: Testing and Inspection
Testing Primary Coil Resistance:
Testing Secondary Coil Resistance:
PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the wiring, the ignition coil, and the high-tension cable (coil wire) at the connector.
2. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the positive and negative terminals. Primary coil resistance (cold) should be 0.4 - 0.5 ohms.
3. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the positive terminal and high-tension terminal. Secondary coil resistance (cold) should be 7.5 - 10.4 K ohms.
4. If either resistance measurement is incorrect, replace the ignition coil.
