Throttle Body: Description and Operation

The volume of intake air to the cylinder is controlled by the throttle body which consists of throttle valve, dashpot, throttle position sensor and air valve. The throttle valve is actuated by depressing and releasing the accelerator pedal. At idle, the throttle valve is fully closed and a small amount of air comes through the bypass where it is adjusted by the idle speed adjusting screw.
