Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Set the park brake and chock the wheels.




2. Disconnect the transmission range selector lever cable terminal (1) from the transmission manual shift lever pin (2).




3. Press the locking tabs inward (1) in order to release the transmission range selector lever cable (2) from the cable bracket (3).

4. Remove the left front floor console extension panel from the console. Refer to Front Floor Console Extension Panel Replacement - Left Side Front Floor Console Extension Panel Replacement - Left Side.




5. Disconnect the transmission range selector lever cable terminal (1) from the transmission control shift lever pin (2).

6. Press the locking tabs inward (3) in order to release the transmission range selector lever cable (4) from the transmission control assembly.

7. Reposition the front left carpet to access the shift cable grommet.




8. Remove the transmission range selector lever cable grommet (1) from the cowl panel.

9. Remove the transmission range selector lever cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the transmission range selector lever cable to the vehicle.




2. Install the transmission range selector lever cable grommet (1) to the cowl panel.




3. Install the cable (4) to transmission control assembly.

Important: Locate the paint dot on the transmission range selector lever cable terminal (1) end. Ensure the paint dot faces the transmission control shift lever pin (2). If the paint dot is facing outward, the cable is NOT installed correctly.


5. Connect the transmission range selector lever cable terminal (1) to the transmission control shift lever pin (2).

6. Install the left front floor console extension panel from the console. Refer to Front Floor Console Extension Panel Replacement - Left Side Front Floor Console Extension Panel Replacement - Left Side.

7. Position the front left carpet.




8. Install the transmission range selector lever cable (2) to the cable bracket (3).




9. Connect the transmission range selector lever cable terminal (1) to the transmission manual shift lever pin (2).

10. Ensure that the shift lever and the transmission control are in the Park position. Secure the shift cable adjustable lock into place. Ensure that the adjustable lock lever is properly seated.
