Lower Control Arm Replacement (GNB)

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.

2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.

3. Disconnect the height sensor link from the ball stud on the lower control arm.

4. Disconnect the wiring harness from the lower control arm.




5. Remove the front lower control arm rear nuts (1).

6. Remove the front lower control arm rear bolts (2).




7. Remove and discard the steering knuckle nut (3) at the front lower control arm.

8. Remove and discard the steering knuckle bolt (1) at the front lower control arm.

9. Remove and discard the front lower control arm front nut (4) at the frame.

10. Remove and discard the front lower control arm front bolt (5) at the frame.

11. Remove the front lower control arm (2) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the front lower control arm (2) in the frame and the steering knuckle.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

Caution: This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.

Note: Install all of the front lower control arm bolts before tightening to hold the lower control arm in place.

2. Install the NEW front lower control arm front nut (4) and NEW front lower control arm front bolt (5) and tighten the bolt to 100 Nm (74 lb ft) + 90 degrees.

3. Install the NEW steering knuckle bolt (1) and NEW steering knuckle nut (3) and tighten the nut to 115 Nm (85 lb ft) + 120 degrees.




4. Install the front lower control arm rear nuts (1) and NEW front lower control arm rear bolts (2) and tighten the bolts to 100 Nm (74 lb ft) + 90 degrees.

5. Unclip the wiring harness from the lower control arm.

6. Connect the height sensor link from the ball stud on the lower control arm.

7. Connect the wiring harness from the lower control arm.

8. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.

9. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
