Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Service and Repair.

2. Remove the instrument panel side trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Side Trim Panel Replacement Instrument Panel Side Trim Panel Replacement.

3. Remove the driver side instrument panel molding. Refer to Instrument Panel Molding Replacement - Driver Side Instrument Panel Molding Replacement - Driver Side.

4. Remove the passenger side instrument panel molding. Refer to Instrument Panel Molding Replacement - Passenger Side Instrument Panel Molding Replacement - Passenger Side.

5. Remove the instrument panel center air outlet. Refer to Instrument Panel Center Air Outlet Replacement Instrument Panel Center Air Outlet Replacement.

6. Remove the windshield defroster nozzle grille. Refer to Windshield Defroster Nozzle Grille Replacement Windshield Defroster Nozzle Grille Replacement.




7. Remove the bolts (1) securing the left side of the instrument panel upper trim panel to the instrument carrier.




8. Remove the bolts (1) securing the right side of the instrument panel upper trim panel.

9. Remove the bolt (2) securing the inflatable restraint module to the instrument panel tie bar.




10. With the aid of an assistant remove the instrument panel upper trim panel (1).

11. Disconnect the instrument panel harness from the upper trim panel.

Installation Procedure




1. With the aid of an assistant position the instrument panel upper trim panel (1) into the vehicle.

2. Connect the instrument panel harness to the upper trim panel.

3. When replacing the instrument panel upper trim panel, transfer all necessary components.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

4. Install the bolts (1) securing the right side of the instrument panel upper trim panel.

5. Install the bolt (2) securing the inflatable restraint module to the instrument panel tie bar and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).




6. Install the bolts (1) securing the left side of the instrument panel upper trim panel to the instrument carrier.

7. Install the windshield defroster nozzle grille. Refer to Windshield Defroster Nozzle Grille Replacement Windshield Defroster Nozzle Grille Replacement.

8. Install the instrument panel center air outlet. Refer to Instrument Panel Center Air Outlet Replacement Instrument Panel Center Air Outlet Replacement.

9. Install the passenger side instrument panel molding. Refer to Instrument Panel Molding Replacement - Passenger Side Instrument Panel Molding Replacement - Passenger Side.

10. Install the driver side instrument panel molding. Refer to Instrument Panel Molding Replacement - Driver Side Instrument Panel Molding Replacement - Driver Side.

11. Install the instrument panel side trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Side Trim Panel Replacement Instrument Panel Side Trim Panel Replacement.

12. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Service and Repair.
