Instrument Carrier Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the instrument panel trim panel (1). Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement.




2. Remove the front floor console (2). Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement Front Floor Console Replacement.




3. Remove the instrument panel compartment (1). Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement.




4. Remove the steering column (2). Refer to Steering Column Replacement Steering Column Replacement.




5. Remove the instrument cluster (2). Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement Service and Repair.




6. Remove the passenger instrument panel carrier support bracket (3). Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Support Bracket Replacement - Passenger Side Instrument Panel Carrier Support Bracket Replacement - Passenger Side.




7. Remove the driver instrument panel carrier support bracket (2). Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Support Bracket Replacement - Driver Side Instrument Panel Carrier Support Bracket Replacement - Driver Side.




8. Remove the air distributor duct retainers (1).




9. Remove the instrument carrier bolts (1).




10. Remove the instrument carrier bolts (1).




11. Note the location and routing of the instrument panel electrical harness assembly, to ensure proper reinstallation.

12. Disconnect the fasteners securing the instrument panel electrical harness assembly to the instrument carrier and position out of the way.

13. With the aid of an assistant lift the instrument carrier (1) rearward and upward from the tie bar assembly.

14. Remove the instrument carrier from the vehicle.




15. Remove the air distributor duct (2). Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement Air Distributor Duct Replacement.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the air distributor duct (2). Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement Air Distributor Duct Replacement.




2. With the aid of an assistant, load the instrument carrier (1) to the instrument panel tie bar to the locator pins.

3. Reposition the instrument panel wiring harness into the vehicle position as was noted in the removal and connect the fasteners securing the instrument panel wiring harness to the instrument carrier (1).





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

4. Install the instrument carrier bolts (1).




5. Install the instrument carrier bolts (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).




6. Install the air distributor duct retainer (1).




7. Install the driver instrument panel carrier support bracket (2). Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Support Bracket Replacement - Driver Side Instrument Panel Carrier Support Bracket Replacement - Driver Side.




8. Install the passenger instrument panel carrier support bracket (3). Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Support Bracket Replacement - Passenger Side Instrument Panel Carrier Support Bracket Replacement - Passenger Side.




9. Install the instrument cluster (2). Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement Service and Repair.




10. Install the steering column (2). Refer to Steering Column Replacement Steering Column Replacement.




11. Install the instrument panel compartment (1). Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement.




12. Install the front floor console (2). Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement Front Floor Console Replacement.




13. Install the instrument panel trim panel (1). Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement.
