Oil Pan: Service and Repair




Oil Pan Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement (Engine Splash Shield Replacement).
2. Remove the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the engine mount lower nuts.





Note: Do NOT disconnect the A/C pipes and/or hoses.

4. Remove the A/C compressor bracket bolts and reposition aside. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LLT) (Removal and Replacement).
5. Drain the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (Service and Repair).
6. Remove the transmission oil cooler pipe retainer from the engine left side.
7. Remove the radiator outlet hose bracket bolt (1).
8. Remove the radiator outlet hose bracket (2).
9. Install the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture (Engine Support Fixture).
10. Tighten the support fixture wing nuts in order to provide clearance for the oil pan.
11. Remove the front differential carrier, if equipped. Refer to Differential Carrier Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair).




12. Remove the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Removal (45. Oil Pan Removal).
13. Perform the following steps as necessary.

* Disassemble the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Disassemble (73. Oil Pan Disassemble).
* Clean and inspect the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Cleaning and Inspection (74. Oil Pan Cleaning and Inspection).

Installation Procedure




1. Assemble the oil pan as necessary. Refer to Oil Pan Assemble (76. Oil Pan Assemble).
2. Install the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Installation (96. Oil Pan Installation).
3. Install the front differential carrier, if equipped. Refer to Differential Carrier Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Loosen the engine support fixture wing nuts in order to lower the engine and engage the engine mounts to the frame.




5. Position the radiator outlet hose bracket (2).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

6. Install the radiator outlet hose bracket bolt (1) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
7. Remove the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture (Engine Support Fixture).
8. Remove the transmission oil cooler pipe retainer from the engine left side.
9. Fill the engine with new engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (Service and Repair).
10. Install the A/C compressor bracket with the A/C compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LLT) (Removal and Replacement).




11. Install the engine mount lower nuts. Refer to Secondary Timing Chain Guide Replacement - Right Side (Secondary Timing Chain Guide Replacement - Right Side) and Engine Mount Replacement - Right Side (Engine Mount Replacement - Right Side).
12. Install the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).
13. Install the engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement (Engine Splash Shield Replacement).
