Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement (SFI)
Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement (LP1, LY7) (3.6L)
Removal Procedure
1. Turn the ignition OFF.
2. Remove the front compartment sight shield as necessary. Refer to Front Compartment Sight Shields Replacement (Front Compartment Sight Shields Replacement).
3. Remove the oil level indicator from the oil level indicator tube.
4. Remove the oil level indicator tube bolt.
5. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
6. Remove the knock sensor. Refer to Knock Sensor Replacement - Bank 2 (Service and Repair).
7. Remove the heat shield clip from the oil level indicator tube.
8. Lower the vehicle.
Important: Note the location and orientation of the secondary (small square) heat shield.
9. Remove the oil level indicator tube up through the exhaust manifold.
10. If you are replacing only the oil level indicator tube seal, remove and discard the old seal.
Installation Procedure
Important: Ensure that the secondary (small square) heat shield is properly installed to the oil level indicator tube as noted during removal.
1. Install the oil level indicator and tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Installation (Overhaul).
2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
3. Install the knock sensor. Refer to Knock Sensor Replacement - Bank 2 (Service and Repair).
4. Install the heat shield clip to the oil level indicator tube as noted during removal.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Install the front compartment sight shield as necessary. Refer to Front Compartment Sight Shields Replacement (Front Compartment Sight Shields Replacement).
